THE FOUNDERS
CAROL CHENG
Although I began my professional career in a bank, I always had one eye on my passion for early childhood education. Eventually, I made a commitment to pursue this dream and obtained a Master's in Child Development from University College London’s Institute of Education. I came home, and went on to manage my own 3 kindergartens, growing them to become leading Montessori kindergartens in Singapore. During my 10 years helming the schools, I also obtained an International Diploma in Montessori pedagogy, as well as a Diploma in Early Childhood Leadership from MOE.
I believe in many of the Montessori philosophies as espoused by Dr. Maria Montessori, and am an advocate that children are at their best when they engage in purposeful play. I also realised the need to adapt and enhance the academic curriculum to suit the rigorous demands of the local education system. Hence, Masterminds was born, a place of balance where children can equip themselves with the necessary academic and life skills to propel them ahead in life.
YEO EK KIAN
After leaving the corporate world 18 years ago, I found my new passion working with young children and have not regretted a moment since. Time has flown by, and it has been 18 wonderful years of memories with countless young children passing through my hands. Whenever I look at a gallery of young faces, I am proud to have touched each of their lives at some point during my time in this field.
I believe in providing a warm environment for a child to learn, grow and enjoy every moment of his or her learning journey. As an educator, I seek to provide an avenue for children to explore and discover their self-worth and develop confidence to meet the challenges of this demanding world of education.
